deep south (by southwest)

sxsw 2009 already seems like a semi-distant memory. a fuzzy hallucination filled with colorful characters, alien sights and sounds, beer with strange names (ie. shiner bock), and dream purchases that almost never exist upon waking…

…but wait! it wasn’t a dream! ’twas no hallucination! we really did go to austin, and we really did see some great bands (Dirty Projectors, Wild Beasts, Grizzly Bear). the beer and the warm sun were actually causing real dehydration, and that magic electric guitar was a real, wallet-draining, gate-check-inducing purchase!

other serious highlights included:

• an amazing 2br apartment in a gated community to stay in
• three and a half beautiful and kind people who made us feel very comfortable and at home
• running into a lot of friendly faces from nyc/brooklyn and from the past
• eating a lot of bbq, pizza and mexican food
• Short Circuit on dvd
